Hi, I’m Melanie Taylor. . . friends call me Mel. I’m an artist, graphic designer and illustrator with over 25 years of professional experience.

I am currently working from home as a freelancer while homeschooling my two amazing kids, but over the last two decades I have worked for my university newspaper, ad agencies, a production crew and a direct mail company. As a freelancer I have produced game and packaging designs for major retail as well as illustrations and layout for greeting cards, t-shirts and even cosmetic sets.

Today I continue to take on freelance projects, designing everything from t-shirts to company branding. I have a passion for surface pattern design and currently offer over 800 fabric & wallpaper designs at Spoonflower.com, but my main love is painting.

I would describe my artistic style as whimsical, colorful and ever-experimental. . . always playing and discovering new textures and color combinations. I tend to paint and illustrate what makes me happy or captures my imagination. Making art is as exciting for me as an adult as it was a child, and that is what motivates me every day.
