Happy Halloween No-Sew Banner

See one of my bunting banner fabric designs in action!

If you’re tired of disposable plastic Halloween decorations, then fabric is a great option… I’ve designed several bunting banner designs in a variety of shapes, colors and themes that you can put together by sewing -OR- choose a non-sew option like I did!

For this project, I ordered a fat quarter of my “Happy Halloween Bunting – Black & Orange” on fleece via Spoonflower. FABRIC LINK HERE

While there are a variety of fabrics to choose from—including cottons, twill, canvas and minky—I chose fleece for it’s non-fraying quality as well as it’s thickness. I wanted to be able to put this banner together quickly with fabric glue and no backing on the flags… fleece is great because it’s thick and lays well.

So for my project, STEP 1 was to simply cut out each of the triangle flags using very sharp shears. A rotary blade will work as well. I also made sure to measure out enough fabric ribbon to place the flags at whatever spacing you prefer, as well as space on the ends for hanging. There are 14 flags at 5″ each and I wanted them all side-by-side with no spacing except between the 2 words – so I measured out 85″ of ribbon for mine.

STEP 2 was simply to put my flags into order, spelling out “Happy Halloween” and then I used fabric glue to attach each flag onto the ribbon, so that the ribbon is front-facing and covering the tops of the flags.

Once the flags were all securely glued into place I let the glue dry overnight. The next day I used tacks to attach each end of the banner to the wall – you could also attach loops or clips!

That’s it. Cut… Glue… Hang. And now I have a fabric banner that I will be able to reuse over and over.
